BASKETBALL AND BABIES HEADLINE ACTIVITIES OF FEBRUARY

Our month of February has moved by quickly. Babysitting Avery and attending BYU basketball games seems to be most of what we did. Almost every Thursday and Saturday nights, we spent at the Marriott Center in Provo watching BYU boy's basketball. The team was on a winning streak until they met San Francisco and Gonzaga. The San Francisco game was played at home and we were leading at the 8 minute mark by 14 points. It was at that time, our team started to throw the ball away leading to 8 points scored against us. It seems that San Francisco could do no wrong and we could so no right. We only scored 8 points in the last 8 minutes and San Francisco won by 6 points. Pretty sad. That Saturday, we played Gonzaga in Spokane, Washington and they blew us out by 35 points. That lost isn't so devastating as they are number 1 in the nation. That loss was prettu much expected. We were in 2nd place in the league behind Gonzaga until our loss to San Francisco. We now could be a low as 4th place, entering the tournament in March.

Blue lights from the audience's phones. Quite impressive
Speaking of the tournament, we are heading to Las Vegas in March for more basketball. We are spending a whole week there. I'm looking forward to just relaxing with a good book and, maybe, a round of golf. Paul is focused solely on basketball. We'll probably watch a couple of girl's game, in the daytime, and all the boy's games, in the evening. It should be a fun get away.

Todd and Kailee took Aria to Las Vegas during February. As a Christmas gift, Todd bought tickets, for Kailee and her Mom, to the Backstreet Boys Concert. They wanted to take Aria because her cousin would there but taking Avery would have been a little difficult. We volunteered to watch Avery for the three days they would be gone. At first, they were going to bring her up to our home. The night before they were leaving, it began to snow and the prediction was for lots of snow in Heber and Park City the next day. Rather than having Todd and Kailee drive up to Heber to drop Avery off and then try and make it to the airport via Park City, we said we would come to Lehi and watch Avery at their home. In the end, that was better for all of us, especially Avery. She was able to sleep in her own bed and be in her comfortable surroundings. We had a good time babysitting her. We were determined to get her to crawl for us but she wouldn't budge no matter what we tried to entice her with. We watched her till Friday morning, at which time we dropped her off with Jake and NIcolle so we could work our shift in the temple. Todd and Kailee returned in the early afternoon.

At In N Out....we had to have our burger fix.
Loving her Ravioli

Her favorite thing was to buzz around the living room and

Table all set
During the month, a couple of other things happened. I hosted as luncheon for the women of our ward as part of the Lunch Bunch program. We had 22 sisters in attendance making it a successful event....lots of good food and great company. It was wonderful to see some of the newer, younger sisters sit and visit with each other. They need these kinds of opportunities to make connections with each other. I made chicken lime street tacos which seemed to a big hit as were the soups and other things that were brought by the sisters. Most of the sisters had not seen the inside of our home. They seemed to love the warmth of all the wood accents.

Another fun thing that happened was a Facetime conversation with Sister Simmons, (now Sister Brown). She  was one of our most favorite sister missionaries in Russia. She had messaged us to see if we could Facetime on a Monday night around 7:30. Of course, we agreed and wondered what would prompt such a request. As we visited with her and her husband, we asked if there was some important announcement they wanted to make. They laughed and told us the call was strictly to visit with us. Sister Brown said she missed us as wanted to catch up. We so appreciated that show of love and caring. We had a wonderful conversation and vowed to keep in touch. They are in Chicago going to school and working. We will miss them not being at our mission reunion.

The rest of the month was focused around Aria and Avery..........
