The month of August started out with a class reunion for Paul - his 65th. It was held at Matthews Restaurant in American Fork. There were about 30 of his classmates there with their spouses. It was fun for Paul to reconnect with his old friends and acquaintances. He was off talking to many of the people in attendance while I sat at a table waiting for him to join me. Lunch was served. Paul had a steak and I had a Cobb salad. It was delicious food and the company at our table kept the conversation interesting. It was decided that they would have a reunion every year at this same restaurant since everyone is getting older and many are passing away. It's sad to get old.

Todd's birthday was at the end of the month. He wanted pot roast for his birthday dinner and a Dairy Queen ice cream cake for dessert. I bought a big one thinking we would have lots of people to dinner but as it turned out it was only Todd's family so we had lots left over. Not a bad thing because I could use it the next week for dessert, which I did.
After Todd's birthday dinner, the girls found my craft cupboard. They had a ball looking through all the things in there and literally had everything strewn all over the floor in the laundry room. They found the sun visors in the cupboard and proceeded to decorate them with the felt stickers and pompoms. They were very creative in their designs. Lincoln was making one, too, but lost interest before I could get a picture of his finished product.
The mess!!!
Luckily they cleaned it up quite nicely
Little Ledger decided he needed a sun visor, too. He was so cute in his visor and was really intrigued with the magnifying glass he found in the craft cupboard.
A lot of our month was been spent trying to decide whether to move. We are thinking of putting our home on the market in the Spring and building a smaller home on the other side of the mountain, most likely in Orem, Lindon, or Pleasant Grove. We would be closer to our family and not have to drive the canyon in our older years. We are looking at a specific development in Orem where they are building a home that would be just the right size for us on a much smaller lot. Paul is getting real tired of taking care of our large yard. We have even been out looking at furniture stores to see if they have shelving for the great room and office furniture for the office. In the office, we would need two desks and shelves to accommodate both our needs. We also looked at Lazy Boy furniture and found the couch and recliners we would want. They are incredibly comfortable which is important for our aging backs. Our realtor friend came by and said he thinks he could list our home for $2.6 million, giving us a little bargaining room with the price. We'll have to see what the future brings.
Possible shelves for either side of a fireplace The desk and shelves we liked.... ....And the couches and recliners we loved.
In preparation for selling our home, we have had some radon mitigation done in our basement which was something we would need to do to pass an inspection. We also accepted a bid to fix our deck. It has been leaking water every time it rains so it is no longer water proof. It is spongy to walk on and needs to be replaced. We've put this off for a couple of years so now it has to be done. It's only money but money that needs to be spent. Earlier this summer, it was our driveway and our heating and air conditioning units that were replaced. Now it's our deck. Oh well. Hopefully we'll get it all back when we sell our home.
I haven't posted the new pictures of Todd's family taken this summer. They came to dinner one Sunday and left early to meet their photographer at the Sundance resort. We put the bottom picture of the children as our wallpaper on our phones.
One meme before I end this post for the month.
